Tottenham are preparing a bid of £5m for young Nottingham Forest defender Jamaal Lascelles, as new boss Mauricio Pochettino looks to overhaul the club’s defence, according to the Daily
After spending time out on loan with Stevenage, Lascelles established himself in the Nottingham Forest starting XI last season as they came up short in the race for the play-offs. He made 34 appearances in the Championship, earning many plaudits for his performances alongside the more experienced Danny Collins.
His form for the Reds has led him to become recognised by England at youth level, and he is currently one of the country’s most highly-rated young centre-backs. Pochettino is expected to allow long-serving duo Michael Dawson and Younes Kaboul leave White Hart Lane this summer, paving the way for Lascelles to come in.
However, he will face competition from London rivals Queens Park Rangers, who have already reportedly made a £4m offer for the 20-year-old. They are currently in talks with two other defenders, with the Loftus Road club favourite to sign former Manchester United stalwart Rio Ferdinand, and Cardiff City captain Steven Caulker.
