Yaya Toure has performed an incredible U-turn on his stance at Manchester City after telling the media he is staying with the club, killing any recent speculation dead, Sky
Toure has been repeatedly and heavily linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium following a series of high profile grievances with the club – only to now reassure fans that he will not be on his way out.
The Ivorian said: “There has been a lot of speculation but they’ve always been good with me and good with my family.
“I want to say that I will always honour my contract and stay as long as possible and don’t think about all the speculation saying that I’m leaving.
“Everything is fine now.
“I think sometimes it can be disappointing and I need to do something for the fans because people love me and people want to hear about what is happening.”
There had first been rumblings from Toure’s camp that he was upset with the cub after he felt disrespected when City didn’t honour his birthday back in May.
After this the player suffered the unfortunate death of his brother before the World Cup got under way, and Toure claimed they had stopped him from leaving for his World Cup duties early to visit his dying sibling.
Agent Dmitri Seluk also added fuel to a growing fire by claiming his client had been overlooked for football’s top prizes because he was not white – and insisted they would find it hard to not at least consider any big European clubs were they to make a move for Toure.
Seluk has now moved to reiterate his man is now happy and that any outstanding issues had been resolved.
He said: “He has a contract and he will work very hard and I hope that next season Yaya will be the best player in the club.
“I hope now everybody is very friendly – and I hope for his next birthday they will celebrate together.”
Toure has been instrumental to City since arriving back in 2010, helping them to their two Premier League titles and FA Cup win, and last season bagged 24 goals in 49 games.
