Van Gaal to let Fellaini leave Man Utd

Louis van Gaal will look to sell Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini when he takes over at the Premier League club, ESPN has reported.

Van Gaal is to replace David Moyes at Old Trafford once his duties as Netherlands Coach are over and the Oranje are no longer involved in the World Cup. Moyes, Fellaini’s manager at Everton, brought the Belgium international with him to Manchester when leaving Goodison Park last summer but was sacked in April, days after losing to his former club for the second time in the season.

Fellaini cost United £27m but he struggled to impress in his new surroundings, and it’s been claimed that van Gaal has asked United to sell Fellaini, believing he isn’t a good fit for the club.

The 26-year-old is currently representing his country at the World Cup in Brazil, scoring against Algeria after coming on as a substitute and helping Marc Wilmots’ Red Devils to the quarter-finals. Belgium play Argentina on Saturday, while van Gaal’s Netherlands meet surprise package Costa Rica that same day.
