West Ham complete Valencia deal

West Ham United have completed the signing of Ecuador striker Enner Valencia Sky Sports is reporting, parting with a sum of around £15m for the player who impressed at the World Cup.

The striker scored all three of his country’s goals in Brazil this summer and moves to Upton Park for big money as Sam Allardyce continues to improve a squad that came in for criticism last season.

The Hammers finished 13th last time round and just seven points above the relegation zone – but after fans called for a change in manager the board decided to stick with their man and demanded a much better showing next time round.

Allardyce hasn’t hung around with improving his playing staff, making Valencia his fifth arrival already, joining Mauro Zarate, Cheikhou Kouyate, Aaron Cresswell and Diego Poyet at the club.

Valencia has cost the club £15m from Mexican club Pachuca, equalling their record paid for the services of Andy Carroll, having beaten off competition from several other Premier League suitors to land him on a five year contract.
