After they both lost London derbies on opening day, Crystal Palace and West Ham contest another as they meet at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
Under the stewardship of caretaker-boss Keith Millen, Palace came within minutes of ending a turbulent week by securing a magnificent draw at Arsenal. However, they defended uncharacteristically poorly from a late set-piece to hand the hosts the point, but it has delivered some optimism ahead of this encounter. Millen will be in charge again as the Eagles look for their first points of the season.
Like their opponents, West Ham suffered late heartbreak last time out as they conceded in stoppage time to lose to Tottenham. Mark Noble’s penalty miss in the first half proved crucial, but it was a game in which their lack of a quality striker was very evident. As the search for a front-man continues, this is a game which manager Sam Allardyce cannot really afford to go against him, but a tight affair is expected.
Adrian Mariappa and Jerome Thomas could both return from injury for Crystal Palace, but Scott Dann is unlikely to play a part. Jason Puncheon misses out through suspension after his sending off at Arsenal.
West Ham will be similarly without James Collins, who also picked up two bookings. James Tomkins could return, but Andy Carroll and Matt Jarvis are still out.
