Inter have confirmed the signing of Cardiff City midfielder Gary Medel for a fee of £10m, with the Chilean making the move after just a year in South Wales, BBC
Medel became Cardiff’s record signing when he arrived from Sevilla for £11m last summer, and he went on to make 34 Premier League appearances for the club last season, but could not prevent the Bluebirds from finishing bottom of the table and suffering relegation.
He went on to play in an unfamiliar central defensive role at the World Cup with Chile and impressed as his side reached the second round, only to lose to Brazil in a tense penalty shootout in Belo Horizonte.
The 27-year-old’s departure has been on the cards for several weeks, and as a result he played no part in Cardiff’s opening Championship game at Blackburn Rovers on Friday, which ended 1-1.
He is the fourth key player to leave Cardiff this summer after central defender Steven Caulker, midfielder Jordon Mutch and striker Fraizer Campbell, who all moved to Premier League clubs.
