Liverpool could target former Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o to bolster their attacking options, according to The
The Cameroon forward spent last season at Chelsea having joined them last summer from Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala, but was released at the end of the season after netting 12 goals in 35 games in all competitions for the Blues.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is reportedly still in the market for a striker, having already secured the signing of England international Rickie Lambert earlier in the summer. A deal for Queens Park Rangers’ Loic Remy fell through with rumours of problems with the player’s medical.
Interest in Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani seems likely to come to nothing, while another target, Columbian goal machine Radamel Falcao is said to be likely to join Real Madrid if he chooses to leave AS Monaco.
Wilfried Bony is also said to be an option under consideration, though the price Swansea would demand for the Ivory Coast international could be a stumbling block.
Eto’o, now 33, would likely come with high wage demands, although as a free agent the lack of transfer fee could make him an attractive option. Liverpool could face competition for his signature from Ajax and his former club Inter Milan, who have apparently also made contact with the striker.
