Liverpool are said to have contacted Paris Saint-Germain to ask about the availability of Edinson Cavani, according to ESPN.
“He would love to play in England, but has not yet made a final decision. He is not interested in money and fame, he just wants to be happy playing football,” said Annelluci.
Cavani joined PSG from Napoli last summer for a fee of more than £50 million, but with Zlatan Ibrahimovic leading the line, he was forced into a less familiar and less favoured wide position. It is thought that the Parisians would be prepared to allow Cavani to leave this summer should the right offer present itself.
Cavani began his career with Danubio in his native Uruguay before moving to Italy, enjoying six successful years in spells with Palermo and Napoli. Despite often not being played in his preferred central position, he still managed to score 25 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions for PSG last season.
He also has 66 caps for his national team, including goalscoring appearances at the recent World Cup in Brazil, and the 2012 Olympic Games.
The fee that would be required to secure his services now might put him beyond Liverpool’s reach, however. The Reds have also enquired about Monaco’s Radamel Falcao, but have been told he is likely to join Real Madrid instead.
