QPR’s Faurlin sidelined for nine months

Luckless Queens Park Rangers midfielder Alejandro Faurlin has sustained serious damage to his anterior cruciate ligament for the third time and will be out for nine months, talkSPORT has confirmed.

The Argentinean suffered his latest injury setback in the 59th minute of the Hoops’ shock 1-0 Capital One Cup defeat at Burton Albion this week.

Peter Florida James, Head of Medical Services at Loftus Road, confirmed the extent of the damage, saying: “The knee itself stayed pretty stable, but the scans have since revealed his ACL graft has ruptured. If he has a repair it will be a six to nine month injury, which is absolutely devastating for all concerned.”

Faurlin has suffered three such serious injuries in successive years, and this new blow has hit everyone at the club hard. “We’re all absolutely devastated for Ale. It looked so innocuous on Wednesday night, so this has come as a massive blow for us all,” added Florida James.

28-year-old Faurlin joined Rangers from Instituto de C
