Roma have enquired to Chelsea over the availability of striker Fernando Torres, and are willing to exchange Mattia Destro as part of the deal, according to the Daily
Torres has struggled for form and consistency since making the move to Stamford Bridge from Liverpool for £50m in January 2011. As a result, he has lost place in the starting XI, with Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho set to go with former Atletico Madrid star Diego Costa as his main striker this season.
The 30-year-old has attracted interest from clubs across Europe, and the Serie A runners-up are now willing to make a bid. They would be open to the idea of signing Torres on a season-long loan as long as they can get a good deal over his £180,000 per week wages, but the deal depends on whether Chelsea decide to sign Destro.
The Italian international has previously been linked with Chelsea, but it now appears that Roma are willing to sell him despite scoring 13 goals in his first season with the club since joining on a permanent basis last summer.
