Fernando Torres won’t be leaving Chelsea as part of a swap deal for Roma striker Mattia Destro, according to Sky
The Italian forward’s agent has said that while there is interest from Stamford Bridge in his client, there’s not much to the suggestion that last year’s Serie A runners-up will take Torres in return as his client wants to stay at his current club and Roma don’t want to let him go.
“It’s true that Chelsea are interested in Mattia,” Renzo Contratto said. “But the reports regarding a swap deal have no foundation, it’s all speculation. Roma don’t want to sell Mattia and Mattia prefers to remain at Roma.”
Destro, previously of Genoa, scored 13 times as Rudi Garcia’s side came a distant second to champions Juventus, finishing 17 points behind the Old Lady.
Torres, meanwhile, claimed 11 goals in 41 games as Jose Mourinho’s side ended the season in third place. The Spain international was however an unused substitute for Chelsea’s first game of the season, a 3-1 win over Burnley, with Diego Costa starting the tie and Didier Drogba introduced from the bench.
