West Ham United are looking to sign Barcelona midfielder Alexandre Song on a season-long loan, and hope to complete the deal over the weekend, according to the Daily
The London club are confident that they can seal the Cameroon international for the season, and believe they can have everything wrapped up before transfer deadline day on Monday. After positive talks were held on Friday, Song is now on standby to travel to West Ham and complete a move should a deal be finalised between the Hammers and Barcelona.
Song is surplus to requirements at Barcelona and has been told that he can leave by manager Luis Enrique. In two years at the club since joining from Arsenal in August 2012, he has only made 37 La Liga starts, and has struggled to find a way past Sergio Busquets in the race to play in the holding midfield role.
Should he join West Ham there will also be competition for places, with Mark Noble, Mohamed Diame and summer signing Cheikhou Kouyate all available to Sam Allardyce, who looks to have beaten off competition from a number of European clubs to claim the 26-year-old.
