Burnley face Sunderland in what is an important game as both sides are still searching for their first league victory of the campaign.
The early signs are that Burnley are going to find goals hard to come by in the top-flight, having hit the net just once this season. Scott Arfield had the perfect opportunity to add to his opening day wonder-strike against Chelsea last time out at Crystal Palace, but his penalty was saved. Avoiding defeat is key here, but the Clarets have at least shown they are capable of competing in the Premier League.
Three draws and a defeat have made it a frustrating start for the visitors, who have not pushed on with any of the momentum they gained from the end of last season. However, manager Gustavo Poyet will be proud of his side’s battling qualities, having grabbed a point against Tottenham despite being forced back for much of the encounter. They will be intent on claiming the three points, but defeat would see any concerns intensify.
Two key strikers are out for Burnley, with Danny Ings and Sam Vokes both injured. So Marvin Sordell could line up alongside Lukas Jutkiewicz. Midfielder Matt Taylor is also absent.
Sunderland have a fully-fit squad to choose from, but could hand recalls to Jordi Gomez, Will Buckley and Emmanuele Giaccherini.
