Chelsea worry as Costa limps out of Spain squad

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has been posed with a possible selection headache after striker Diego Costa limped out of Spain’s 1-0 loss to France and subsequently the Spanish squad, the BBC is reporting.

Having suffered repeated hamstring problems towards the end of last season it was hoped the new £32m man would find some form of consistent fitness – and after hitting the ground running with four goals in his first three games for the club had hoped he would continue.

But the player limped out of the loss with a hamstring complaint again and after scans revealed an injury, has returned to Stamford Bridge for further assessment, being replaced by Barcelona youngster Munir El Haddadi.

Costa had been a doubt for the 6-3 over Everton last weekend but managed to prove his fitness and ended up scoring twice in an impressive performance.

But this latest blow comes on the back of his previous hamstring injuries – that saw him pull out of the Champions League final just nine minutes into the game having battled problems for over a month.
