Hernandez close to Real Madrid loan move

Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez is close to joining Real Madrid on loan for the rest of the season, the Daily Mirror has reported.

The Mexican is expected to leave Old Trafford before the transfer window closes at 2300 BST on Monday, having been told by manager Louis van Gaal that he is free to move on despite helping the club to two Premier League titles and scoring 59 goals in 154 appearances since joining in the summer of 2010.

Should he move to the Bernabeu on loan, United will want Real Madrid to pay all of his £90,000 per week wages, just as is the case with Luis Nani, who joined former club Sporting Lisbon. The talks are continuing, and the deal appears likely, and that would reduce the chances of Radamel Falcao joining Manchester City.

For the Colombian to move to the Etihad Stadium, it is likely they would have to sell Alvaro Negredo, with Real Madrid among those linked. Should the European champions sign Hernandez, they would be unlikely to enter the market for another striker.
