Manchester City midfielder David Silva believes his side can and will stop in form Diego Costa when Chelsea visit the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, according to the Daily
Since arriving at Chelsea the Spanish hit man has fired in seven goals in just four games as he has made a blistering start to life in the Premier League.
The Blues remain the only side in the division with a 100% record but Silva thinks he and his City team mates can halt both this coming Sunday as the two title favourites go head to head in a crunch clash.
He said: “Diego has made a huge impact, it is not easy to adapt but he has clearly done it very quickly.
“He’s scored seven times so far so that record speaks for itself. That’s very important for Chelsea but not that good for us. But we’ve got a good defence and I believe we can stop him on Sunday.
“I think Chelsea have made some fantastic signings this summer but our friendship will be set aside because we are going out to win.
“But it’s really all about how the team plays, and our aim as always is to go out and win the game.”
Costa has helped to steer Chelsea to the top of the early Premier League table and if the Blues were to win they would put themselves a crucial eight points ahead of their direct rivals at such an early time already.
They will however take encouragement of their ruthless pursuit of Liverpool last season in which they closed an unlikely gap down towards the end of the season to claim the Premier League crown.
