Manchester City striker Stevan Jovetic is likely to miss Saturday’s Premier League trip to rivals Arsenal after picking up a hamstring injury on international duty, ESPN
The 24-year-old suffered the injury in training with the Montenegro national team on Sunday, and was forced to miss the remainder of the session. As a result, he was unable to play in the 2-0 victory at home to Moldova on Monday evening.
“Jovetic’s injury has caused us a lot of disruption,” said manager Branko Brnovic. “It would be a major setback for a much bigger team than Montenegro.”
He now returns to Man City, where he will be assessed ahead of the game at the Emirates Stadium, and should he be out, it would leave manager Manuel Pellegrini with Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko as his only striking options, after Alvaro Negredo joined Valencia on loan on transfer deadline day.
Signed in the summer of 2013 from Fiorentina, Jovetic spent most of his first season at City on the sidelines, but has begun this term in fine form, scoring twice in the 3-1 win over Liverpool on August 25.
