Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson praised his newly promoted side as they netted four goals in 20 minutes to overhaul Manchester United’s new star studded squad 5-3, Sky
Having trailed 2-0 and then 3-1 the Foxes produced a stunning comeback to leave the country speechless as they took apart United’s defence – which capitulated following the award of two spot kicks and the sending off of Tyler Blackett.
Leicester have already won many plaudits for their application after their promotion to the top flight – seeing creditable draws against Everton and Arsenal and a good performance against Chelsea go unrewarded – and this victory made it back to back wins, lifting them to sixth in the table and delighting boss Pearson.
He said: “Back-to-back wins in the Premier League is never easy, especially for a side that gets promoted.
“For us to win away at Stoke last week and to back it up with a win at home against one of the big forces of English football is very, very satisfying.
“When you add into that coming back from 3-1 down to win it is testament to not only, I think, the quality of players we have, but also the belief and the spirit amongst us to keep trying to do the right things.
“It is really satisfying for us to be in a winning position after being 3-1 down. I do not think that happens too often but I think in the end we were full value for it.”
Leicester next face Crystal Palace, Burnley and Newcastle and will fancy themselves to pick up more points following their incredibly tough start to the campaign.
Despite the luck of the fixture computer they have emerged from the tests with eight points and surely now have the confidence they can survive the drop this season.
