Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has admitted that his players are struggling to come to terms with the new ideas he has brought to the club, BBC
The Dutchman has only managed to win one of his first six matches in charge since arriving in the summer, and while his squad has been plagued by injuries and had to deal with the influx of big-name signings immediately prior to the transfer deadline, he has implemented a new formation, which has seen some players play out of position.
The changes he has made have extended to the training ground, with several new methods brought in to Man Utd’s regime, but it has not stopped them from making their worst start to a Premier League campaign.
When asked on Friday ahead of Saturday’s game against West Ham United if he had changed too much too soon, van Gaal said: “We give [the players] a lot of information. There shall be a moment in the season that this information is not too much. At this moment maybe it is too much.
“It’s very difficult because we are starting with a new team and a new relationship between players so that’s why it needs time.”
