Southampton are looking to win for the fourth Premier League game in a row against a Queens Park Rangers side that has conceded eight without reply in their two away fixtures.
Since taking one point from their opening two matches, the Saints have not looked back, with Ronald Koeman having enjoyed considerable success early on with his new-look team. Dusan Tadic and Graziano Pelle have linked up well, while Sadio Mane looked a livewire on his debut at Arsenal in the Capital One Cup, which also ended in victory.
However, the standout players in this fine run have been the two holding midfield players, Morgan Schneiderlin and Victor Wayama. As well as proving massively effective in protecting the defence, they have also chipped in with important goals.
And with the hosts carrying great momentum, their former boss Harry Redknapp may feel the need to set up the barricades, although that tactic proved less than successful at both Tottenham and Manchester United. The R’s needed a superb late free-kick from Niko Kranjcar to earn a point against Stoke City, a game which should really have been beyond them as the centre-backs were often woefully exposed.
Toby Alderweireld may be fit enough to return for Southampton after missing the win at Swansea, but Jay Rodriguez and James Ward-Prowse will both be out.
QPR will have to make do without Joey Barton due to a hamstring injury, and Kranjcar is a doubt after picking up a knock. Jordon Mutch and Alejandro Faurlin are also unavailable.
