After their terrific win at Manchester City, Stoke City return home for a Midlands derby against Leicester City, who will be pleased with the start they have made.
Mark Hughes’ latest return to the Etihad Stadium proved to be the most rewarding thus far after his side carried his game-plan to perfection, cancelling out the threat of Man City’s most dangerous players, and grabbing a goal on the counter-attack through the industrious Mame Biram Diouf. That should kick-start the Potters’ season, having laboured in their opening two matches against Aston Villa and Hull City.
They cannot take Leicester lightly, however, as the Foxes have put in three highly creditable performances against members of last season’s top five, and deservedly earned two points for their efforts. They will now be searching for a first win, and in Leonardo Ulloa they have a striker who can hurt most Premier League defences, and he already has two goals to his name.
Stoke will be without Peter Odemwingie for several months after he was injured at Manchester City. As a result, Oussama Assaidi could start having rejoined on loan from Liverpool.
While Geoff Cameron is also missing for the hosts, Leicester’s only absentee is Matthew Upson. They could give debuts to Estaban Cambiasso, Nick Powell and Danny Simpson.
