Recent Manchester United signing Daley Blind has backed manager Louis van Gaal to restore the club’s team spirit, Sky
Louis van Gaal
Blind made his debut for the club on Sunday as Man Utd thrashed Queens Park Rangers 4-0 to give van Gaal his first win in charge at the fifth attempt. The utility player joined from Ajax towards the end of the transfer window, and knows the boss well having played under him for the Dutch national team.
And the 24-year-old believes that van Gaal’s honesty can help unite the team, and insisted that he should not be criticised for being too hard on his players. He said: “He is not frightening – he is just honest. That can be frightening, but I like it.
“He is very honest to everybody. He knows what he wants and he knows his philosophy. He can bring that to the players and he can make a team with everybody in.”
Blind also went on to discuss how van Gaal made him a better player. He added: “I have really learned a lot from van Gaal and I like working under him. He has helped me a lot and I hope to continue learning from him.
“I think he can make me a better player in terms of positioning, where to stand and tactics in games because midfield is an important position to play and I hope I can get better at it every day.”
