Walker has lower abdominal surgery

Tottenham defender Kyle Walker has undergone surgery on a lower abdominal injury that has kept him side lined for almost six months, Sky Sports is reporting.

Walkers has been missing for Spurs competitively since they lost 3-1 to Benfica at home in the Europa League – way back on March 13th.

He had managed to turn in a performance during the club’s preseason tour of the United States but it proved too much for the right back.

The club’s medical staff were hoping they could avoid surgery but the decision was eventually taken to send him for a procedure hoping to fix a long standing problem with the England international following further medical assessment from specialists.

The club stated that following the disruption to his preseason the decision was taken, with no recovery timescale set for the defender.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino described Walker as having ‘good and bad days’, hoping that he would recover soon – although he will not be rushing the 24-year-old back to action.

Walker has made 134 appearances for Spurs since joining from Sheffield United in 2009, scoring three goals.
