Welbeck has to improve, says ex-Arsenal boss Graham

Former Arsenal manager George Graham believes Danny Welbeck needs to be more clinical in front of goal, according to the Daily Mail.

Graham is reported as saying that while Welbeck is a hard worker, he needs to add more quality in front of goal if he is to prove himself as the Gunners’ main scoring threat. Welbeck moved to Arsenal from Manchester United on transfer deadline day, manager Arsene Wenger spending £16m on the England international.

“Welbeck is a very willing boy,” Graham told an interview with talkSport. “He works his socks off and has a good attitude. He’s got to improve his finishing a lot though. At Arsenal he will get chances, so we’ll see how good a finisher he is.”

The 23-year-old netted his first Arsenal goal in the 3-0 win over Aston Villa in the London club’s last Premier League outing, having previously scored 29 goals in 142 games for United. Welbeck also has 10 goals in 28 games for England, including two in the Three Lions’ last game, a 2-0 away win over Switzerland in a Euro 2016 qualifier.
