Arsenal and Liverpool revive interest in Higuain

Arsenal and Liverpool are once again eyeing long-term target Gonzalo Higuain, who is unsettled at Napoli and could look to leave in the coming months, according to the Daily Express.

Higuain was heavily linked with a move to the North London club in the summer of 2013, only for Napoli to win the race for his signature following his departure from Real Madrid. He has since helped Rafael Benitez’ side to last season’s Coppa Italia, and has scored 27 goals in 57 appearances in all competitions.

Arsene Wenger may look into the possibility of making a move for the Argentine in January, with uncertainty continuing to surround the future of Lukas Podolski. Liverpool could decide to enter the market for another striker, with Mario Balotelli having so far failed to live up to expectations since his summer move from Milan.

Napoli could be forced to sell their biggest asset due to their growing financial problems, which have been worsened in recent months due to their failure to qualify for the group stages of the Champions League. With that in mind, the Premier League duo may fancy their chances of landing the 26-year-old.
