Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger relieved following fortunate victory over Sunderland

After two individual errors earned Arsenal a fortunate 2-0 win against Sunderland this weekend, manager Arsene Wenger admitted his side weren’t at their best, reports ESPN.

“We were focused today. Maybe we missed some opportunities but we are very happy to get the three points. What was important today was the (result). You can always improve. It’s always difficult, but recently we’ve had problems, so (a win and a clean sheet) is a good basis,” said Wenger.

Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez capitalised on two individual errors from Wes Brown and Vito Mannone to grab a brace against the Black Cats, but the Gunners were uninspiring throughout. The London side made changes from their midweek Champions League outing, but are still struggling to create clear cut opportunities.

Their win against Sunderland was their third victory from eight league games this season, but they are still eight points adrift of leaders Chelsea.
