Arsenal to return for Khedira in January

Arsenal are to revive their interest in Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira in January, and are willing to offer hoim wages of £100,000 per week, according to the Independent.

The North London club were heavily linked with a move for the World Cup winner over the summer, but a deal failed to materialise as manager Arsene Wenger failed in his attempts to bring a holding midfield player to the Emirates Stadium. William Carvalho, Lars Bender and Morgan Schneiderlin were also the subject of reported interest.

There are some suggestions that a deal between the two clubs has already been reached, with Khedira having fallen a long way down the pecking order at Real Madrid since Carlo Ancelotti became the manager in the summer of 2013. His contract is set to expire at the end of this season, meaning that he can negotiate a move elsewhere in January.

Khedira is thought to be worth £15m, and although personal terms are said to have been discussed, an agreement over a fee must still be reached. The two clubs have a positive relationship following Mesut Ozil’s move to the Gunners in August 2013.
