Arsenal’s Ozil sent for MRI scan by Germany

Mesut Ozil joined up with the Germany squad ahead of the European Championship qualifiers this week but has been sent for a precautionary MRI scan instead of training, the Daily Mail has reported, causing concern for Arsenal.

The Gunners’ midfielder has not shown any signs of injury this season after playing nine time for the club.

Ozil has been the target of heavy criticism as he struggles for form and has now been sent for the scan to clear up what could be a niggling knee injury.

He completed 90 minutes for his club as they lost 2-0 to Chelsea last weekend and has netted once this season – his first away goal for Arsenal since joining at the beginning of last season, during their 3-0 victory at Aston Villa.

Having joined up with the German national side in Frankfurt the 25-year-old was yet to train and has now been sent 250 miles south to Munich to undergo scans on the knee problem.

The extent of his troubles are unclear and it is yet to be known if he will play any part on their games against rivals Poland and the Republic of Ireland.
