Already four points from safety, Burnley will be determined to gain their first win of the season but are in for a tough test against Everton.
A familiar problem haunted the Clarets last time out at home to West Ham United. Despite the return of striker Danny Ings from injury, they were unable to make the most of a strong first half display and were punished in the second period. As the wait for a victory goes on, each match is becoming more crucial, and although Sean Dyche is full of praise for his side’s hard work, three points here is a must.
Everton came to life against Aston Villa to register only their second league victory of the campaign, a performance and result which indicates that their season could belatedly start to lift off. That 3-0 success coincided with the return of Ross Barkley, who then played the full 90 minutes of a challenging Europa League trip to Lille. The clean sheet in France suggests that the defensive woes may just be subsiding.
Dean Marney could miss out again through injury along with Matt Taylor. However, Burnley do have Michael Keane and Steven Reid back available.
Roberto Martinez is set to make several changes from the Everton side which played against Lille, but he is still without Kevin Mirallas and John Stones.
