After seeing striker Diego Costa succumb to a hamstring injury that has kept him out of action for the Chelsea’s last three games, manager Jose Mourinho has blamed the Spain national team for overplaying him, reports Sky
The 26-year-old picked up a stomach virus that saw him hospitalised during the week, but Mourinho revealed his striker has recovered from it, but is still on the treatment table for his hamstring injury.
“The virus is fine. Costa had to go to the hospital and obviously it doesn’t help him to recover from his injury. But he didn’t play on Sunday (against Man Utd) because of the injury, not because of the virus. Diego has the hamstring (problem) because he played two matches in three days (for Spain) when he was not with us,” he said.
