According to the Independent,
The Brazilian-born Spanish international, 26, returned from international duty with the mystery illness and was subsequently admitted to hospital. Costa is also carrying a groin injury at present, which has caused him to miss Chelsea’s last two games against Crystal Palace in the Premier League and Maribor in the Champions League.
Manager Jose Mourinho has reiterated his frustration with how international football has already affected Costa, as the Chelsea boss previously revealed his summer signing was “hardly training” due to his muscle problems.
Despite not being apparently fully fit so far this season, Diego Costa has impressively scored 9 goals in 7 league games. Mourinho was hoping to have his strongest side available ahead of their weekend clash against Manchester United, but it looks likely that Costa will miss out, meaning Didier Drogba will spearhead the attack if Loic Remy isn’t deemed to be fit.
