Hull City are searching for a first Premier League victory since opening day as they welcome in-form Crystal Palace to Humberside on Saturday.
Failing to make the most of winning positions has been the Tigers’ main problem so far this term, a fault which has already cost them six points this season, and their place in the Capital One Cup.
They slipped to just above the bottom three after their latest result, but against Manchester City manager Steve Bruce will have been impressed with the fighting spirit shown by his players, as a rout looked possible early on. Even so, they will see a win here as crucial.
Neil Warnock is so far following on from the admirable work done by predecessor Tony Pulis, with a workmanlike performance and ruthless efficiency from set-pieces delivering all three points against Leicester City, extending the unbeaten league run to four games. This match may suit them well as they have great pace on the counter-attack, which was in evidence in their last away match at Everton.
The home team are without goalkeeper Allan McGregor due to a shoulder injury, but David Meyler returns to the fold after a spell on the sidelines.
Crystal Palace have midfielder Stuart O’Keefe and striker Marouane Chamakh available to them, but Warnock is expected to go with an unchanged team.
