Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany isn’t intimidated by Chelsea’s strong start to the Premier League season, according to ESPN.
“I can’t really say that personally I’m looking too much at Chelsea,” Kompany said. “When we won the league first time [in 2012], we were nine points behind with six or seven games left to play.
“Last year Arsenal were leading by six or seven points and ahead of everyone in February but it ended up being between Liverpool and us,” the Belgium international added. “There are so many reasons why I’m not really focusing on getting back at Chelsea.”
The first meeting between the sides this season ended in a 1-1 draw at City’s Etihad Stadium, with Andre Schurrle putting the Londoners in front before Frank Lampard claimed a late equaliser, scoring his first goal for City, against the club at which he spent 13 years before leaving over the summer.
