Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers insists out-of-form Mario Balotelli will come good against Real Madrid in tonight’s Champions League clash, as reported on BBC
“He’s a good kid who is working hard. He’s focused and getting himself out on the training field, which is important, and he’s scored goals in big games” said Rodgers.
“I’m sure he’ll go into the game tomorrow night, if selected, looking forward to getting off the mark again, and as long as he’s in there with the possibilities to score, I have every confidence he can score.”
Balotelli signed for Liverpool from Serie A side AC Milan on deadline day for around £16M, but has only scored once in all competitions for the Reds.
The Italian international looked out of sorts in Liverpool’s recent 3-2 win against Queens Park Rangers, and Rodgers did previously rest him in place of fellow summer signing Rickie Lambert as a result of his poor Premier League form.
However, it does appear the ex-Manchester City striker will spearhead the Reds’ attack against defending champions Real Madrid tonight, with his manager pinning a lot of faith in his ability to finally deliver on the big stage.
