Newcastle right-back Daryl Janmaat says the players are all behind manager Alan Pardew, despite their slow start to the season, reports BBC
“The pressure has eased. We want him as the manager. The manager was under a lot of pressure so it’s nice that we have given him some points. I now expect the pressure to ease on him. We do not want another manager,” said Janmaat.
Newcastle were languishing around the relegation zone earlier this campaign, but consecutive Premier League victories has now taken the pressure of Pardew’s shoulders for the time being.
The Magpies have a chance of reaching the Capital One Cup quarter-final if they can see past the holders Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium tonight too.
Newcastle are 14th in the league, with 10 points from 9 games.
