Roma have entered talks with Chelsea over a possible January move for goalkeeper Petr Cech, who is no longer first choice at Stamford Bridge, the Metro
Having been almost a permanent fixture in the Chelsea starting XI for 10 years, Cech was dropped at the beginning of this season in favour of Thibaut Courtois, who was signed in 2011 but spent three years on loan with Atletico Madrid.
As a result, the Czech Republic star has only made two appearances this season, figuring in the Capital One Cup victory over Bolton Wanderers and the recent 2-0 Premier League win over Arsenal, during which he replaced Courtois after the 22-year-old suffered a head injury.
Cech is now being linked with a move away as he strives to gain first-team football once again, and according to Italian publication Il Tempo, Roma have been locked in discussions with Chelsea for the past few weeks.
Last season’s Serie A runners-up are thought to be keen on bolstering their goalkeeping options and are hopeful of making a move for Cech at the turn of the year. Should a deal be struck, it would see the 32-year-old reunite with former Blues teammate Ashley Cole.
