Southampton striker Graziano Pelle scored twice as the South Coast outfit beat Stoke City to progress to the last-8 of the Capital One Cup, reports BBC
Pelle but the visitors ahead minutes into the game with a beautiful curled effort from distance. The Italian has been in fine form for his new side this season, and his confidence was for all to see.
Shane Long doubled the Saints’ advantage on the half hour mark, which was his first Southampton goal since joining from Hull City.
But after the break, Stoke City came back into the game. Steven N’Zonzi scored minutes into the second-half.
Mame Diouf equalised for the hosts in the 82nd minute, but his joy was short-lived as Pelle struck minutes later to send Southampton into the Capital One Cup quarter-final.
