Stoke City’s Robert Huth could be out for several weeks with calf injury

Stoke City defender Robert Huth is having a scan on his calf after picking up an injury in training, reports BBC Sport.

The former Chelsea centre-back, 30, has been on the periphery this season, with Huth having failed to play in any Premier League for Stoke so far. Ryan Shawcross has formed a partnership with Marc Wilson in the backline under manager Mark Hughes, and Huth’s latest setback could see him missing until December.

The out-of-favour veteran, who has represented Germany 19 times, has spent more time on the bench for the Potters, but has been utilised in the Capital One Cup, playing in the second round win against Portsmouth, and their third round victory over Sunderland. There’s no accurate estimation when he could return to action, however.
