Swansea City are searching for their first Premier League win since August as they travel to Stoke City, whose first seven matches have been dogged by inconsistency.
A first home win of the season against Newcastle United came as a massive relief to Stoke, but they failed to build on that result in a surprisingly uncompetitive performance at Sunderland, where they lost 3-1 before the international break.
Manager Mark Hughes will be demanding a response here, and for his side to fulfil their attacking promise, with the number of goals not matching the chances created. On paper, Peter Crouch, Marko Arnautovic, Mame Biram Diouf and Bojan Krkic makes a strong quartet.
The visitors have been impressively solid in defence for much of this season so far, so Garry Monk will have been frustrated at allowing Papiss Cisse to score twice to salvage a point for Newcastle last time out in a game which should have resulted in a comfortable victory on the balance of play.
On the positive side, Wilfried Bony is finally off the mark for the season, and Gylfi Sigurdsson continues to turn in outstanding performances. The Icelander will also be on a high here after his brace defeated the Netherlands on Monday.
Arnautovic is a doubt for Stoke along with Robert Huth and Glenn Whelan, who picked up an injury while playing for the Republic of Ireland in Germany.
Angel Rangel returns from a one-match ban for Swansea, but Jonjo Shelvey misses out after receiving five yellow cards. Leon Britton is also absent.
