Tottenham suffer Naughton injury blow

Tottenham could be without right-back Kyle Naughton for several weeks after a scan revealed that he has suffered ankle ligament damage, Sky Sports has reported.

This latest setback leaves manager Mauricio Pochettino with major concerns for when the Premier League resumes after the international break. With Kyle Walker also injured, and not expected to return to action until the end of November, the Argentine is left with Eric Dier – a natural central defender – as his only senior option at right-back.

The 25-year-old, who has been deputising for Walker, was forced off during the first half of the 1-0 victory over Southampton on Sunday. He has made six appearances so far this season, but there is no confirmed timeframe for his impending absence.

Spurs also have concerns over goalkeeper Hugo Lloris ahead of the trip to Manchester City on October 18. The former Lyon star has picked up a groin injury on international duty with France. He is doubtful for Sunday’s friendly with Portugal after sustaining a knock in training.
