Mauricio Pochettino takes on former club Southampton for the first time since leaving for Tottenham when the two clubs meet at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
The Argentine’s start to life in North London has been patchy at best, with Spurs currently occupying 12th place in the Premier League going into this fixture. They lost their last home league game disappointingly against West Bromwich Albion, and have since gone on to ride their luck in draws against rivals Arsenal and then Besiktas in the Europa League, so the supporters will be demanding an improvement here.
There is no shortage of confidence in the Southampton ranks at present, a point evidenced by Graziano Pelle’s superb winning goal against Queens Park Rangers last time out. He, along with several other astute summer signings, have fitted in seamlessly under the calm management style of Ronald Koeman, as they once again look a major force to be reckoned with this season.
Tottenham will make several changes from the Besiktas clash, but left-back Danny Rose and midfielder Mousa Dembele face fitness tests.
The away side are still without defender Maya Yoshida, midfielder James Ward-Prowse and striker Jay Rodriguez, but do have Romanian international Florin Gardos back following a calf injury.
