West Brom progressing well, says Berahino

West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino believes that his side are steadily improving after they came from 2-0 down to draw with Crystal Palace on Saturday, Sky Sports has reported.

The South London club were in control for much of the first half, and established what appeared to be a comfortable lead thanks to Brede Hangeland’s volley from a left-wing corner, and a penalty from captain Mile Jedinak after a foul on Fraizer Campbell by Sebastien Pocognoli.

However, the Baggies hit back in the second period with Victor Anichebe heading in for a goal which was allowed to stand despite Craig Dawson’s hefty challenge on goalkeeper Julian Speroni, who had to be replaced. The equaliser arrived in stoppage time, when Berahino netted from the spot after a foul by Jedinak.

And after the game, the in-form England U-21 international said: “We’re heading the right way and we have just got to stay focused and work that extra bit harder. We’ve got some important games coming up. We feel that we can pick up some more points so we just have to stay focused and get the job done.

“We just had to make sure that in the second half we don’t lose the game and we come out and we give our best. I’m just glad that I’m scoring the goals and I just thank god that this opportunity came today and I put it in the back of the net.”
