AC Milan to bid for Newcastle’s Davide Santon in January

According to talkSPORT, Newcastle defender Davide Santon is being targeted by Serie A side AC Milan, with the Italians looking to bring him in when the January transfer window opens.

Santon was courted by a host of Italian sides in the summer – with AS Roma being one of them – and is currently being eyed up by AC Milan manager Filippo Inzaghi. The 23-year-old has been a mainstay in the Newcastle side, and last season averaged a tackle or interception every 22 minutes.

He’s a good defensive option, but also provides a threat going forward too, making 24 chances in the Premier League in 2013/14. His experience in the Italian division, coupled with the fledgling form of Newcastle makes him an obvious choice for Serie A side to find a potential bargain, and the Premier League outfit are expecting to be inundated with offers in January.
