Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini reserved special praise for striker Sergio Aguero as the player once again came to City’s rescue – leading to his manager claiming he is ‘one of the best in the world’, according to Sky
A stunning Champions League hat trick including two late goals saw Manchester City overturn ten man Bayern Munich to win 3-2 and keep their Champions League hopes alive – a win in their last game will all but see them qualify as long as CSKA Moscow do not win against Bayern in Germany.
Aguero stole the show with an incredible three goal showing and took his already impressive tally to 17 from 19 in all competitions – 12 of those making him the Premier League’s current top scorer.
And Pellegrini believes his striker is amongst the best five players around.
He said: “I always say Sergio is one of the best five players in the world so he must believe every time when he plays that he must play the way he did today with the intensity and with concentration.
“He is one of the best players in the world.”
Team mate Frank Lampard echoed his manager’s thoughts at the final whistle and hailed Aguero for his stunning form – the Argentinian also recently became the Premier League’s all-time leading goals to minute ratio record holder.
He said: “He is something incredible. When he runs through you expect him to score he is at the top of his game and one of the top strikers in the world.”
