Arsenal 3-3 Anderlecht: Vanden Borre brace see Gunners relinquish three-goal lead at the Emirates

Arsenal threw away a 3-0 lead at home to Anderlecht in the Champions League last night, reports BBC Sport.

The hosts took the lead in the 25th minute through a Mikel Arteta penalty. Danny Welbeck was fouled by Chancel Mbemba, and Arteta made no mistake with his spot-kick.

Minutes later, Alexis Sanchez doubled Arsenal’s lead with an impressive volley from distance, scoring his fifth goal in his last three games in all competitions.

After the break, and before the hour mark, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain looked to have to game sealed for the Gunners after scoring Arsenal’s third goal of the game.

But Anderlecht wouldn’t give up. Anthony Vanden Borre scored minutes later to make it 3-1 with half an hour to go.

The same man struck again just over 10 minutes later to set up a rousing finale at the Emirates.

Aleksandar Mitrovic then rescued a point for the Belgian champions in injury time to ensure Anderlecht took a share of the spoils.
