Arsenal and Man Utd to return for Alessio Cerci

Atletico Madrid are readying the sale of Alessio Cerci just six months after he joined the club with Arsenal and Manchester United on alert, the Daily Express is reporting.

The Italian was a summer recruit for the La Liga Champions in a £13m deal from Serie A outfit Torino, with it reported that the player had turned down moves to United and the Gunners.

But manager Diego Simeone is yet to grant the Italy international a first team start and the club are thought to be ready to cut their losses at this early stage.

Cerci scored 13 goals in 36 games for Torino to earn himself a move to Spain and the Premier League pair are willing to offer the 29-year-old a lifeline from his Madrid hell.

New Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini is also reportedly interested and it could be a three way battle in January for the player’s signature.

The club are said to be prepared to accept offers of the £13m they paid for him, with Arsenal and United already granting their managers funds for the winter transfer window.
