Arsenal’s Lukas Podolski threatens January exit if he continues to be on the bench

Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski has admitted he will be forced to seek a move away from the Londoners if he remains on the fringes, reports ITV Football.

The German international, 29, has played just 50 minutes of Premier League football for Arsenal this season, and is growing frustrated with manager Arsene Wenger as a result of the lack of action.

In 2013/14, Podolski was public in his criticism of Wenger for continually substituting the forward in games that he did start. The German was being brought off after the hour mark in most games he started in, and now he’s at the end of his tether for being completely overlooked.

“I’ve spent the last four months making brief appearances. I’ve had to wrap myself up warm in my winter coat with my hat and scarf on to watch the others playing. I would rather show Arsenal what I am capable if, but this chance to show what I can do is not being given to me,” he said.

“I want to play football for many years to come so am I meant just to say everything’s fine and sit my contract out?”
