After capping a brilliant individual performance with a goal on his full debut against Burnley, Aston Villa midfielder Joe Cole was delighted to finally kickstart his career with the Midlands outfit, reports Sky
“It’s always nice to score your first goal for your new club and to score it on my first league start was great. It’s been a long time. I’ve had a few niggly injuries and things but I’m just here to play football. I want to help the club and help the young players with my experience and my performances. It’s a short career and you want to play football.”
Joe Cole was outstanding on his full debut for the Villans, vindicating manager Paul Lambert’s decision to put him in the side ahead of Charles N’Zogbia. He scored the opening goal against Burnley in a 1-1 draw, and was given a great ovation when he was substituted in the second-half.
