The agent of Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli has rejected claims that his client could be heading back to Italy in the January transfer window, Sky
The 24-year-old was signed for £16m from Milan in August, but has failed to score in the Premier League since, with his only two goals coming in the Champions League and the Capital One Cup. His performances have also led to widespread criticism, which has not been helped by Liverpool’s faltering form.
There have been rumours in recent weeks that Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is beginning to lose patience with the Italy international, and the appointment of Roberto Mancini – who has managed Balotelli twice in the past – as Inter boss has intensified speculation that he could be back at the San Siro as early as the New Year.
Balotelli’s contract runs until 2017, and his agent Mino Raiola insists that Liverpool are not prepared to dramatically cut it short. He said: “Mario will not return to Serie A. Him (Balotelli) to Inter? It’s impossible, not because Mancini has returned but for other reasons that I don’t wish to get into.”
