The 27-year-old playmaker recently had an MRI scan, and will be absent for his national team as a result. It’s thought he hasn’t suffered a tear to the hamstring muscle, but has more been struggling with discomfort that playing for Spain could potentially exacerbate.
“The Chelsea midfielder has been ruled out for the games against Belarus and Germany following tests and an evaluation of his condition that was carried out this morning by the medical staff of the Spanish national team,” said a statement from the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has recently stated his frustration with the national teams selecting injures players, but he’ll be happy Fabregas is being allowed a well-earned rest after a great start to his Chelsea career.
